The Goal: A Friends of Carmel prayer group is to encourage, enlighten and support one another, to pray together and to enable each one's personal friendship with God.
The Group affords an opportunity for individuals wishing to journey with others to:
-deepen their understanding of Carmelite spirituality through personal work guided by short extracts from the writings of the Carmelite Saints;
-benefit from support for their spiritual life and make progress in the practice of Carmelite prayer;
-experience conviviality and discussion in the safety of the weekly (or monthly) meetings led by a Secular Carmelite;
Participants commit to:
-reading the short assigned text as many times as possible during the week (or month) with an attentive heart in order for the text to 'work' within you;
-devoting time regularly to interior prayer;
-regular attendance and active participation in weekly or monthly meetings;
-contributing within one's means to the expenses of our group's expenses.
